Proven Track Record in Maritime Investments
MPC Capital has been active in the shipping industry for many years, structuring and financing 120 shipping investments. Our investment services include market research, sourcing and structuring of the investment, as well as financial management and reporting to our investors.
With shareholdings in Wilhelmsen Ahrenkiel Ship Management (technical ship management) and Harper Petersen (commercial ship management) we operate the vessels in the best interest of our investors. Due to our deep understanding of the shipping market we develop the optimal exit strategies for our investments and supervise complex transactions.
The ships that made up the “M-Star” fleet, with poetic names such as “Mahler Star”, “Manet Star” and “Mendelssohn Star”, went into service between 2004 and 2007. To finance their purchase, MPC Capital raised approximately EUR 175 million of equity capital predominantly among private investors. In the midst of the troubled shipping market, MPC Capital seized on the opportunity for a sale and investors (IRR) was approx. 7%, and the total return of capital is as high as 195 %.
The Handysize Bulker Newbuilding was ordered for an investor at historically low newbuilding price. The vessel has a very attractive and economic ship design and vessels of this size are of healthy supply dynamics due to a very low order book. Under the supervision and the ship management of MPC Capital entities, the vessel was built and then employed for 18 months with a renowned charterer.
An investment in a handysize container ship at an attractive entry point and low purchase price. AS Pamira is a second hand feeder ship that was underpriced compared with the order book and therefore has a strong return potential. MPC Capital managed the due dilligence process, sourced and acquired the vessel and now manages it both technically and commercially.
MPC Container Ships ASA focuses on small-size container ships between 1,000 and 3,000 TEU and acquired the vessels at attractive levels (40% avg. discount to newbuilding parity). MPC Capital's subsidiaries, Ahrenkiel Steamship and Contchart, amongst others offer technical and commercial management services to the fleet. MPC Container Ships ASA has successfully completed multiple rounds of funding in the capital markets and is now the leading owner of feeder vessels globally.
